Philippians 3:18

Today’s Scripture Reading is

Philippians 3:17-4:1

17Brethren, (A)join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the (B)pattern you have in us.

18For (C)many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even (D)weeping, that they are enemies of (E)the cross of Christ,

19whose end is destruction, whose god is their (F)appetite, and whose (G)glory is in their shame, who (H)set their minds on earthly things.

20For (I)our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly (J)wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;

21who will (K)transform the body of our humble state into (L)conformity with the (M)body of His glory, (N)by the exertion of the power that He has even to (O)subject all things to Himself.
Philippians 4
Think of Excellence
1Therefore, my beloved brethren whom I (P)long to see, my joy and crown, in this way (Q)stand firm in the Lord, my beloved.

Today’s Scripture Reading is Romans 10:8b-13

Romans 10:8-13

8But what does it say? “(A)THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”–that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,

9that (B)if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and (C)believe in your heart that (D)God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

10for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

11For the Scripture says, “(E)WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.”

12For (F)there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is (G)Lord of (H)all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;

13for “(I)WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED.”

Today’s Scripture Reading is Luke 9:28-43a (NRSV)

The Transfiguration
28 Now about eight days after these sayings Jesusf took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. 29And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. 30Suddenly they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking to him. 31They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. 32Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep; but since they had stayed awake,g they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. 33Just as they were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings,h one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”–not knowing what he said. 34While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud. 35Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my Son, my Chosen;i listen to him!” 36When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen.
Jesus Heals a Boy with a Demon
37 On the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great crowd met him. 38Just then a man from the crowd shouted, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son; he is my only child. 39Suddenly a spirit seizes him, and all at once hej shrieks. It convulses him until he foams at the mouth; it mauls him and will scarcely leave him. 40I begged your disciples to cast it out, but they could not.” 41Jesus answered, “You faithless and perverse generation, how much longer must I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.” 42While he was coming, the demon dashed him to the ground in convulsions. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. 43And all were astounded at the greatness of God.

Today’s Scripture Reading is:

Isaiah 6:1-13

A Vision of God in the Temple

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lofty; and the hem of his robe filled the temple. 2Seraphs were in attendance above him; each had six wings: with two they covered their faces, and with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. 3And one called to another and said:
‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory.’
4The pivots* on the thresholds shook at the voices of those who called, and the house filled with smoke. 5And I said: ‘Woe is me! I am lost, for I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!’

6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me, holding a live coal that had been taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7The seraph* touched my mouth with it and said: ‘Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has departed and your sin is blotted out.’ 8Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I; send me!’ 9And he said, ‘Go and say to this people:
“Keep listening, but do not comprehend;
keep looking, but do not understand.”
10Make the mind of this people dull,
and stop their ears,
and shut their eyes,
so that they may not look with their eyes,
and listen with their ears,
and comprehend with their minds,
and turn and be healed.’
11Then I said, ‘How long, O Lord?’ And he said:
‘Until cities lie waste
without inhabitant,
and houses without people,
and the land is utterly desolate;
12until the Lord sends everyone far away,
and vast is the emptiness in the midst of the land.
13Even if a tenth part remains in it,
it will be burned again,
like a terebinth or an oak
whose stump remains standing
when it is felled.’*
The holy seed is its stump.
